Channel Testing

University laboratory research and field testing has been conducted on the effectiveness of North American Green’s rolled erosion control products (RECPs) for their unvegetated channel scour protection under a diversity of environmental extremes and conditions. Additionally, all North American Green turf reinforcement mattings have been tested for their immediate erosion control (unvegetated), long-term erosion control (vegetated) and the vegetation reinforcement afforded by the mattings. Independent research has been conducted at a variety of university and independent laboratories including Utah State University, Colorado State University, University of Hawaii, Drexel University, University of Guelph, and the Texas Transportation Institute on North American Green RECPs. One conclusion can be drawn from the extensive research from each of these facilities "North American Green RECPs significantly reduce soil erosion and reinforce vegetation for channel liner applications". By compiling the data from all the research, North American Green has developed erosion control performance factors for each of North American Green’s RECPs for inclusion in Erosion Control Materials Design Software.

Utah State University Test Results
This university study utilized indoor laboratory channel flumes filled with highly erodible sandy loam soil and controlled volume flow events.

Channel Lining Research
To quantify the total performance of its Vmax3 composite-turf reinforcement mats (C-TRMs), North American Green has recently conducted comprehensive, unvegetated, partially vegetated, and fully vegetated large-scale channel lining research at Colorado State University's hydraulics laboratory in Ft. Collins, CO.
