Slope Testing Protocol

All tests were conducted by installing each North American Green erosion control blanket type in separate plots on a 20-foot-long, sandy loam test bed set at one of three slope gradients, ranging from 3:1 to 1.5:1.

After blanket installation, the test plots were subjected to 4 in/hr rainfall intensity (for one full hour) by computer-controlled rainfall simulators. All water and sediment runoff and infiltrated water were collected at the end of each test plot and volumetrically measured and weighed.

Test Results

The following graphs display the test results in actual soil loss per hour from the respective material, and from bare-soil control plots.
