During the ESST, participants are informed of and tested on an array of topics including:
- How soil properties and types affect the rate of soil erosion
- Erosion processes and characterization
- Government regulations affecting the erosion control industry
- Comparison of common erosion and sediment control methods
- Temporary erosion control blankets (ECBs)
- How material composition affects blanket performance
- How ECBs function in typical field applications
- Cost-benefit comparison to other methods of temporary erosion control
- Vmax3® Composite Reinforcement Series
- Differences between composite (C-TRMs) and standard turf reinforcement mats (TRMs)
- How C-TRMs and TRMs function in typical field applications
- Performance of Vmax3 products compared to hard armor erosion control methods
- Research and laboratory testing on Vmax3 products
- Industry cooperative programs to progress erosion and sediment control technology
- North American Green reference materials: printed literature, Internet, etc.
- Proper installation techniques and installation tools
- General use of the ECMDS® (Erosion Control Materials Design Software) program
